Understanding relevant codes and standards for pipe support are deemed necessary and quite important to help the process of designing proper pipe support, as followings for reference, which divide in accordance to the country wo issued the Codes and Standards:

I. GENERAL

ASME B13.1
Power Piping
Requires the design of standard pipe-supporting elements shall be in accordance with the rules of MSS SP-58.
ASME B31.3
Process Piping
Did not specifically address the design of support structures, but requires the design pipe support is to be based on simple calculations and jengineering judgment, where detailed analysis is needed for complex cases.
